What we found we needed to do, was pull those families in and not just work with the parents, but work with the school staff to work with parents, how to engage them, how to make them part of the learning process.

Educators say that maintaining ongoing communication with families, clearly communicating learning goals and encouraging reading at home are among the most important ways they can work together with parents to help their children succeed, but that none of these activities happens at the rate they should be – not even close.
